The Contra Costa County Library is serving lunch at the Concord Library and eight other library locations in the county this summer in an effort to prevent a summer nutrition gap. Many low-income children face nutrient deficiencies when school closes for the summer break. Meals are served at no charge to children up to age 18.
Lunch in the Library is part of a statewide collaboration between the California Library Association (CLA) and the California Summer Meal Coalition to unite libraries and summer meal providers and keep kids healthy and engaged when school is out.
