Have you heard of Giving Tuesday – the global day of charitable giving that takes place just five days after Thanksgiving?
Coming just after Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday is a chance to celebrate the joy that comes with giving from the heart – instead of at the register. And at a time of year when holiday shopping lists, meal plans and travel logistics can dominate our day-to-day lives, Giving Tuesday encourages us to re-embrace our communities and come together with others to make an impact – and do you ever!
As we prepare for the big day, we wanted to share some of the ways your generosity on this day makes a difference for our neighbors all year long.
The impact you make
Last year, donors like you provided more than 500,000 meals during Giving Tuesday.
That incredible act of generosity helped ensure we could continue to provide the fresh, healthy staples our neighbors facing food insecurity need. It also gave us the ability to offer traditional holiday foods, so everyone in our community could enjoy a special meal with their loved ones.
Not only did your generous support provide these much-needed meals and groceries, it enabled us to continue working on long-term strategic goals that will improve the wellbeing of our community for years to come.
You ensured we could continue buying healthy, nutritious foods like fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy products and proteins, so our neighbors can have better long term health outcomes. You helped us buy more locally-grown food, so your donations stay in our community, supporting local jobs and businesses – in addition to supplying great food. And you’ve helped us upgrade our warehouses, so your support can get where it’s most needed as quickly as possible.
You’ve changed lives – and you can again
Your support on Giving Tuesday means so much, especially this year. Need in our community remains at an all-time high. And as seasonal expenses put more pressure on neighbors who are already struggling to make ends meet, we expect to see up to 20% more of our neighbors use our programs this holiday season.
When you donate on Giving Tuesday, 97 cents of every dollar will go directly to our programs, making sure all of our neighbors get what they need when they need it.
Positive changes like these can only happen when we all work together. That’s what Giving Tuesday is all about – building up our community for a shared purpose. We are so grateful for your generous, compassionate support, on this day and every day!
