After a year of hosting her food pantry outside, Monica Sepulveda is happy to be back indoors.
In April of 2023, the room at Cornerstone Baptist Church that had hosted her food pantry for more than a decade caught fire. But with up to 100 households visiting the Dixon-based pantry every week, there was no time to pause. No matter the weather, she and other volunteers were outside every week, setting up tables and putting out food for neighbors in need.
Now, a year later, repairs to the building are complete, and the pantry is back under a roof. And, thanks to Food Bank supporters like you, they have some new equipment to help serve their community: two commercial freezers and a commercial refrigerator!

“It’s going to be a blessing.”
Cornerstone is one of more than 260 local nonprofits the Food Bank partners with to fight hunger. By working together, we can ensure food and resources reach all corners of our community – and our partners can use their local expertise to make sure our neighbors’ unique needs are being met.
Equipment upgrades are one of the ways we’re able to ensure our partners can get more nourishing, healthy food into our community. Monica says when the pantry used home fridges she had to be cautious about some foods. Large amounts of milk, for instance, could put too much strain on her equipment – running the risk of spoilage and waste.
Now, there’s more room than ever for Cornerstone to store fresh and healthy proteins, dairy products, eggs and produce
“It’s going to be a blessing,” Monica says. “I’ve wanted these fridges for years.”
With your help, we were able to purchase more than 15 units like these for smaller nonprofits across Contra Costa and Solano Counties! Thank you for supporting us – and our community partners!
Cornerstone Baptist Church distributes food every Friday from 11 a.m. to noon.
