Our volunteer centers got a makeover. Here’s what’s new

Our 8,000 volunteers play a critical role in fighting hunger in Contra Costa and Solano Counties. And with the help of a generous grant from the State of California, we’re showing our appreciation by making the volunteer experience in our warehouses even better!

Over the past months, our volunteer spaces in Concord and Fairfield went from this:

…to this!

What’s new in our volunteer centers

Not only do our volunteer centers look more welcoming, we’ve made upgrades that will improve your experience when you visit to bag, sort and box food.

  • Upgraded temperature control in both buildings will help you stay cooler in summer and warmer in winter.
  • Flow and training improvements to make your volunteer shift run more smoothly than ever.
  • New water bottle fill stations will help keep you hydrated while reducing plastic waste.
  • Relax and socialize in our enhanced break area – or snap a pic in front of our “why” walls to show the power of giving back!
  • Improved audio equipment will keep the music and good feelings going.
  • And last but not least… dedicated bathroom facilities in Concord just for volunteers!

We’re incredibly grateful to Senator Steve Glazer who helped us secure grant funding for this work. And we’re equally grateful to all of our volunteers for giving generously of their time. Thank you so much for your patience and dedication during our renovations!

Staff and Sen. Steve Glazer hold a large novelty check.

We’d also like to thank everyone who joined us to celebrate the opening of these new spaces in July. Visit our Facebook to see all the photos from our community celebrations!
