College Hunger

Andrew is a 2024 Speaker Series graduate, Community Advocate Partner, and the Donor Relations Manager at the Food Bank. Andrew embraces opportunities to advocate for policies that expand access to food benefits within California and nationally, and his advocacy insight stems from his work in fundraising. His Speaker Series story touched upon the experiences he witnessed in college, as he noticed many students struggling to afford food and balance their studies, which led to hard choices for many young people.

Andrew highly values philanthropy as a vehicle for change. He leads a grassroots-driven giving group through a platform called Grapevine that allows community members to donate a small amount of money each month and then vote for the cause they want to support with their donation. Andrew then evaluates the collection of funds and transfers money to local and national nonprofits that align with the community’s wishes.
