Roth Johnson joined the Food Bank as the Director of Finance in 2023. Roth brings over 20 years of experience overseeing a number of behavioral health and community justice programs in the Bay Area in risk management, forecasting, budget planning and implementation, and asset management.
Prior to the Food Bank, he served as Director of Finance for Roots Community Health Center, where he oversaw all of Roots’ accounting, contracting and personnel functions, enabling Roots’ physical footprint, staff, budget and community partnerships to more than triple in size, and to maintain full staffing and services in the face of the COVID pandemic. Before joining Roots, Roth worked for Leaders in Community Alternatives, Inc., where he served as Program Director for Alameda County Probation Transition Day Reporting Center and Assistant Program Director for the Community Assessment and Services Center, providing reentry services to low-income and formerly incarcerated members of the communities.
From 1998 to 2013, Roth worked at Jelani, Inc., in the Bayview/Hunters’ Point district of San Francisco, starting as a bookkeeper and rising to Human Resources and Administrative Director, a leadership position which he held for nearly a decade. Roth received his Bachelor of Arts from USF in economics and holds certifications in finance, database management, crisis intervention and motivational interviewing.
